Three Russia hypersonic missile scientists arrested for treason

Russian authorities have arrested three scientists working on hypersonic missiles. Supposedly two of the arrests happened last summer, whereas the last one happened in April. That reports The Moscow Times:

“Members of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ (RAS) Siberian Branch warned that the criminal cases risk setting back Russia’s advances in hypersonic technology.

“We simply don’t understand how to continue our craft,” the scientists wrote.

The institute said its members Anatoly Maslov, Alexander Shiplyuk and Valery Zvegintsev are held in custody on treason charges for speaking at conferences abroad, publishing articles in popular magazines and participating in international projects.”

In other words, the scientists were jailed for doing standard things related to scientific work.

@r2blog looks like the usual, control is more important then progress. But no need to worry, it doesn’t matter what the scientists that are still around manage to achieve, the propaganda will make everything amazing
