Navies vs. coast guards: What is the difference?

2021-09-17 By Anders Puck Nielsen Leave a Comment

I have made this interview with Ian Bowers about the relationship between navies and coast guards.

I really enjoyed the conversation, where we discussed whether we are seeing a militarization of coast guards and law enforcement. This is clearly the case in East Asia, and most prominently in the South China Sea. But are we also seeing more blurred lines between navies and coast guards in other places?
